    anyone shoot 7.5x55 swiss?

I'm looking for some scrap 7.5x55 Swiss brass, much of it out there is berdan primed which makes it perfect for my needs.

The base is .495 in diameter ......... hummm??????? and the length is just right........ hummm????? and it just so happens to weight the same as RCE's 50 BMG jackets!!!!!

I came across a handful of these cases in my berdan primed collection and now that I think it will make a perfect 50BMG jacket I'm looking for more.

Let me know if anyone has some of this scrap brass or know anyone that does.

    Thanks

    Brian

p.s. it is a heck of a good looking cartridge, basically a short action 30 cal ultra mag designed 100+ years ago. Probably pretty impressive in a modern action.

I have a bunch of GP11 ammo that I'll likely shoot a bit of soon. When I do, I'll keep you in mind. I'm working on a .50 project currently and hope maybe we could work something out as well.

I'll take all that is offered to me. Trades might be possible, or a cash value for the brass, figure a little better then best scrap rate one would get at a scrap yard. I'll have to see what I can do with them, I'm certain I can turn them into a decent 50 cal bullet. I also have a large box full of 308 and 30-06 size berdan primed brass to work with but that 7.5 swiss should make it a lot easier, hold on to all you can for us swagers looking to turn it into something worth wile instead of scraping it or throwing it away.

284 Winchester brass would also work nicely if you can find some at the end of it's service life.

Yep 284 win would also work perfectly. I read people making 7.5x55 from 284 but figured scrap 284 brass might be a little hard to come by.

About a year ago I scraped out about 400 284's that loose primer pockets. If I still had them they would be yours. 6.5/284 is used a lot for the long range competitions but most of the High Power forums are no longer active.

Will homemade jacketed bullets hold together at .50bmg velocities? Those things scoot right along.....

Typical FPS for my 750-820 grain bullets is 2500-2800 FPS. But a jacket made from cartridge brass holding together is a concern of mine, although there are plenty of stories out there of 50 BMG bullets made from belted mag cases. Last thing you would want is a bullet coming apart the instant it leaves the muzzle and contacting the muzzle brake.

Just made a few bullets from the 7.5, it works but it is going to take quite a bit more refinement in tooling for me. As soon as I get one worthy of a pic I'll post it.
