My first cast (and BP) kill

Recently I got my first harvest with a boolit, and with my blackpowder rifle at the same time. It was a 50 cal with 100 gr pyrodex. Boolit was a Mihec 330 gr 45 colt flat nose at 80 yards. Complete pass through. I think it.might have gone through 3 115 lb does.

Haven't killed one with it in a while, but used a Lyman 300 grain SWC in a sabot and 100 grains of Hogdon 777 to take a few, good combo.

    Congrats, some good eating there.

Awesome work. Your deer appears to be leaking.

My guess is closer to 5 or 6. Can we get someone to line them up and test it out?

    Greetings Wadestep and Congratulations !
That sure is a good feeling to see the end results of the work you put in. Thank you for posting this.
It still is amazing what a cast lead boolit can still do in 2015.

Thanks to all. The deer managed to get about 80 yards, but it was like following someone pouring out a red paint can.

Did the exit look just the same?
    Well done!

The exit was about the same, maybe 25% larger. This season I also shot a 190# buck with a 30-06 and a 120 lb pig with a 243. Both those did not pass through.i got lucky to find one with no blood trail. The pig I got a 2nd shot on. I am more and more sold on heavy 45 cal SWC boolits. I also shoot the same boolit out of my 45 colt (ruger only loads).

Purely due to bullet selection, inside of 150 yds I have more confidence in the muzzle loader than 243 for sure, maybe also 30-06.
