    Cool Herters dies

I just bought an old Herters Super 3, I'm looking for dies to use in this press. Anyone know where to find any? 45ACP, 40 S&W, 9MM, 223, 6MM REM?

Evilbay, has a lot of Herter's dies.

The 40 S&W is almost certainly a post Herter's development, as may be carbide dies for the 45 ACP and 9mm.

Any dies will work in it. Are you just trying to keep it authentic/period correct?

I have a fwe sets of old Herters dies, just as good as any others and better than some.

    Cool

Actually I just realized I worded that wrong. It's not dies I'm looking for. I was hoping to find original shell holders. I'd really like to find a #19 shell holder. And others too. I'd like to have as many different shell holders as I can find.

Unless you just want to use the "old" equipment as designed, you can get any adapter made for your Herter's ram that will allow you to use any of the modern day shell holders. The old Herter's shell holders are getting pretty pricey on Ebay now. C-H used to make adapters, but I don't know if they still do. Maybe one of our guys on here will do one for you.

I have four old herters and wells presses that are great old presses. I use the adapters to the modern shell holders.

CH still makes those adapters. Buy'em direct. Shell holder adapters, extensions, and die thread adapter bushings often sell for nearly double on the auction sites - a quirky market.

I don't use the Herters Super 3 much at all these days but I learned its worth the initial cost of the CH adapter which enables you to use modern shell holders because buying the original Herter shell holders can be "iffy" as to availability and cost. Ebay auctions can be pricey even when you find all that you need. Watch out for the handle smacking you or causing you to pinch your fingers.
    regards,
