Hornady's New MONSTER Cast Iron Press

    Hey Guys,

Does anyone of you already own Hornady's new cast iron single stage press?

    http://www.hornady.com/store/Presses-and-Kits-New

This is a real monster , cast iron, 26 lbs, 1-1/8" diameter ram. It also has unique shell holder platform and accessories holder.

I was thinking of using it for swaging bullets.

    Anyone own one already?

    Thanks for any reply

That's a big press and I'm sure it will make a lot of people proud owners of one, I look forward to seeing the reviews of the masses.

Kind of hard to own one already since it won't be released for sale until December.

Asked my LGS and they wouldn't have it till next February, and Hornady is just down the road.

Looks pretty cool, would like to see one in person, not sure for the price that I would replace my RCBS for it.

They don't say so but I bet you could swage with that press. Of course the ultimate single stage press to me is the RCE Walnut Hill.

That is an impressive looking press, and no mistake. I would just as soon they added the priming feature and left the rest alone. On a single stage press I don't feel the need to add the steps that they have added for addings sake. The shellholder platform leaves me merely curious, and I could do without drilling extraneous holes in the top of the press, but she is hell for stout for sure. It hope it sells really well for them.

Wow, that's beefy. Can't wait to see the reviews when it comes out.

They say the shellholder platform makes it "the first of its kind to allow hand loaders to deprime, pause and remove the case to chamfer and debar, etc., then easily replace and prime." (I think they mean "debur".) Either they define its kind pretty narrowly, or I have been doing the impossible for quite a while.

    Hi,
    Well...I like it but....

I think I'll keep my RCBS A2 and my CH Champion (both cast STEEL) and half the price used than the Hornady!

I normally would give something like this a second look as I have an RCBS Rockchucker that will do everything, and I don't get too excited about single stage Reloading presses as they are generally more of the same..

However this one is nice looking and It is certainly stout. I'll check it out at SHOT next year and see if I need one.
