Tried in Winchester Model 54 and a couple '03 Springfields in. 30-'06, no better than 4" at 100 yards with all bullets tipping. These were subsonic loads without GC. Maybe if you drive them hard, but #311299 MUCH better and easier to deal with all-around.

Guess I will find out for you once the rain stops.

Friend gave me a box full of the lee 230gr bullets, someone gave them to him, but hes not much of a cast person.

I have read what others said about the bullets, so wasn't willing to lay out cash for a mold. Not impressed so far, some is probably poor casting technique. Out of 100 or so bullets in the box, I was happy with all of 14 of them. Only 2 were even 230gr w a gas check. Most were around 218gr. My NOE 198 gr mold come out about 210gr. As usual w Lee molds a 309 sizer didn't really do much to them. Not real confident the gas checks will stay on.

Im going to try them thru a mosin, does shoot 309 decent, but much better w 311 or 314. Subsonic velocity.

I shoot 245gr boolits in my 30-06, they are as long as the lee 230, I do use them gas checked and they are perfectly stable at 1,950fps, no tipping at 100 yards. Of the issues the Lee 230 has, stabilization in a 30-06 due to length isn't one of them.

I figured they'd stablize if driven fast enough.

Well they don't work in a mosin. Finally got to shoot some this weekend, all they did is make a mess of the barrel.
