    So question for you experts:
my throats are bigger than 477 but smaller than 478, so I will guess they are ~ 0.4775".
Planning on running these 385-410 gr bullets between 950 and 1200 fps at most. Probably will settle somewhere around 1100.
Should I get a 0.477" mold size or a 0.478"? Wasn't planning on gas check but not experienced with big bore casting, so frankly, should I then just gas check these as well?

    thanks!

Personally id go with .478 plain base. I dont see a reason for gas checks in a handgun.

I think sometimes we measure too many things and worry about nothing. I'd order a 478 and size down if you need. Hard to size up. Also no gas check if it's your only one. With the softer alloy, and in HP form, you don't want to run much over 1100 anyway to make it work right in my experience. At 1100, I've killed a bison and some large hogs and never felt I needed more. Remember that measuring. The throats is great but the barrel size related to that is important too but to be honest, I've never measured a single one of mine and they all shoot great.

Most all of your Rugers are going to go .476" and anything larger will not chamber. That's what I'm finding in my RRH.

Thanks guys. You are right about starting to measure and think about too many things!
I am excited about trying this mold and bullet. I love my SBH in 480 Ruger (after working on trigger creep and grip fit) but only shot the 325 XTP factory.

Wow! What a neat mould! I'd like one to drop .478", GC, all pins please. Thank you! Planning to purchase a SRH but don't want to miss out on this re-run before I get the pistol. I'm hoping .478 is a good match.

All my molds I've ever ordered are .478. I think you'll be happy. I'll get you guys added when I'm at the computer in the morning.

    Thanks!

    Hello Zeus,

If the penta pins could possibly be ordered with this mould for additional cost, please add it to my #19 GC mould. I am curious to see how differently they would expand.

They open and immediately Tend to break off from what I've shot. I don't like them personally but I'll put it on there and see if he will do them for one mold. No promises.
