Nice one Dave.
I know it has been ages since we had a chat. We must catch up some time!

Dave, it's here, early Christmas. Now I have a greater idea about making reams. If I can help in any way please email/pm me.
Thanks,
Bill
Glad it arrived safely and I hope it works as well for you as it did for me ,
One of my next projects is to make a die set for my 223 and I have been making some reamers and laps, I may even make a video of how I make them if there is any interest. The bullet in the picture is the Sierra 52grn HBPT that I am trying to copy .
Video would be great.
Did you have a chance to try the program I sent?
Hi Jim ,no I wasn't able to download the file but I am getting on well with CamBam and I am able to alter the G code to suit if needed.
Dave.
Nobody else wants to see Dave do his reamer Magic?
Dave, Care to share how-to on your tipping die?
Jim
Most definitely please post a video!!!!
Start CASTING or get off the POT!
I would greatly appreciate a video on making these items!!

Looks very good. Sort of similar to one I used to have from Corbin. Keep posting on this, I'm interested.
It looks very nice. What is the width of the strip? Do you have to orient the longest part of the punch to the infeed side?
To lazy to chase arrows.
Clodhopper
The strip is about 23.5mm and the cutter is 7/8" ,the longest part of the cutter has to be aligned with the ejection port but only because it would be too long the other way round .
I am making these blanks with .9mm strip ,my current die set makes a 25mm blank with .7mm copper and makes a 30 cal jacket of 1.3 before trimming ,my hope is to make a similar length of jacket with a smaller but thicker blank ,if it works then I will be able to get 300 or maybe even 325 jackets out of a 2x1 sheet of copper instead of only 253 .
Dave.
Very interesting. May I ask where you get your copper? Do you buy strips or sheets and cut your own strips? I'd love to try it again, but on my retired preacher's income, I doubt that will happen. But it sure is interesting.Richard has good prices, but It's all I can do to afford the press and a couple of die sets. Keep up the good work, and let us see how this project goes.
I buy 2x1 sheets on ebay and cut them into strips on a guillotine
One more question... what is the thickness of the sheet that you use? I know Corbin stresses that you must use a certain type of copper sheet, but I'm guessing that's because he sells that type. When you get this perfected, would you be interested in selling a few set? I'm sure there would be a number of members here who would be interested. I would, IF I could afford it.
The copper I am using for this set is .9mm or about .035" and I am hoping to make 1,25" 30 cal jackets ,I know that I can draw a 25mm disc of .7mm or .027" to 1.3", I am only guessing that the smaller diameter but thicker disc will draw to about the same length ,as for selling the dies this is just a hobby at the moment but I would never say never.
Dave.
