    BROADHEADS,who hunts with 2 blades?

i couldnt help but notice theres a countless number of knock off mechanical heads on ebay and when i hung up my hunting bow a few years back lots of people were under the assumption that 2 blade broadheads were wings and they made terrible groups...

muzzy heads came with my bow when i bought it and i soon converted some muzzy original 4 blade heads into 2 blades with some old stock filler blades.

    the results were astounding.

i have some pictures if anyone would like to see them, i have never seen another picture of them on the web. it kinda seems like only veteran traditional hunters use 2 blades anymore....

they blow through even the thickest hog hide... which was were my intentions were while bow hunting.

I am a dedicated Muzzy 3 blade user but sure do not have anything against a good 2 blade broad head. The classic 2 blade design has been taking game cleanly for years. FB

I've been saving My Eskimo points for the last several years. I'm down to my last 3 so I better buy some more before next fall.

i used to shoot competitive target archery, and for fun i'd set up another bow hunter style , broadheads and all.
i always got compliments on how well i could make the old fred bear 2 blade heads fly like a target arrow.

the boys i played with seldom missed ...i stood on the line many times with rick mckinney behind me and darrell pace in front of me!

Back in the 1970`s and 80`s I used a Bear Polar Ltd that I set at 60 lb. My 31" aluminum arrows were tipped with the Bear broadhead that had a replaceable insert. I had none of the planeing that people were complaining about and that broadhead would definately kill if placed properly.Robert

I started using two blade kudu broadheads after I experienced poor penetration with three blade broadheads.

Last week, I killed my first elk with a bow. At about 30 yards the public land bull was quartering to me. I hit just behind the right shoulder, penetrated one lung, and exited just ahead of the rear left hip....Full penetration! I was using a 29" Easton FMJ arrow and a 100 grain Kudu contour head.

Very exciting and I am happy with my broad head selection.

    Handmade

I will show you my two blade broadheads. They are 1 5/8 inches wide and weigh 200 to 220 grains. Using Beman and Gold Tip 340 spined arrows with high 2 inch vanes three fletch. They fly like darts..a little bit slower than with 100 grain heads, but with much more penetration. The bow at 55 lbs is much quieter and the arrows less noise. The heads are coated with HiTek Old Gold for rust protection. It does seem to be stated often that two blades penetrate well and make bigger holes than their width. Best part about the broadheads is they don't cost me much more than labor as they are produced in my shop from the design to the heat treat/temper . I should mention that I have taken several animals with 2 blade heads. Four or five javalinas, one coyote DRT, cow elk DRT, four more elk that made it 40 yards or less and a few whitetails. One cow elk about two hundred yards. Bow tip hit a limb and gut shot. Recovered next morning.
A big plus with two blade heads is the ease of sharpening in the field. I use a three inch tip from a full size kitchen steel with an improvisioned handle and a small fine diamond hone with me. A few strokes and it is ready for another shot.
