    475-420-GC for Bisley 480

First, my apology if somebody already created something similar, I couldn't find it.

Considering that long waited 5-bore Bisley in 480 is out, I've got urge to get one. And of, of course, a mould that will go with it is mandatory. Anyhow, here is my idea:

    Dia: .478"
    Weight with GC: 420 gr
    Meplat dia: .380"
    Meplat to crimp groove: .440"
    OAL: .923

Since this revolver is not for plinking, but for serious business, I opted for a heavy weight, with gas check for maximum accuracy, and to eliminate leading.

Please let mi know what do you think about this boolit. I am open for all options.

This one is solid, but if there is enough interest, HP is possible.

    Thanks, Onty

I would be interested in that boolit as a solid.
How long is this process going to take to get the molds in hand?

    Thanks,

I am counting on Miha http://www.mp-molds.com/ for this one. Although, I personally prefer solid, flat point, Miha makes superb HP Cramer style. BTW, as far as I know, all his molds, including HP Cramer, are made using brass.

As for the time frame, well this is tough one. Maybe some other members might have a good idea.

You can cast solid flat points from the Miha mold. I have one from the first go around of the 477640, great mold and bullet for the 480.

The 477-640 is 410 grains as a solid, and a gas check version Group Buy of it is already in the running. It'll prolly be a fast buy. Or at least faster than starting up a new one.

Another vote for all of you that do not have one yet on the 477-640 MiHec. I have Cramer/Gas Check, my Super Redhawks (and BFR .475Linebaugh) don't care whether solid or HP. Full charge of H110, Lil'Gun or 4227 and they will just about stack them, way more accurate than I can shoot them. With scope and sandbag rest I have shoot groups well under 1.5" at 50 yard, that is all I can do.

If you really want a heavyweight, you could always go with something versatile such as the 445gr Martin LFN (http://singleactions.proboards.com/t...cal-445-gr-lfn)

It looks like this at 100 yards with iron sights:

Onty, I have a mold thats VERY similar to your design. Id have to double check your dimension. Mine drops at 428gr and i lish it pretty hard at 1150fps in a Super Redhawk.
I also have the Ruger Bisley 5 shot on layaway.

lee makes a 400gn gc for $20 all playing aside unless you are powder coating that bullet i would opt for some bigger lube grooves.

I've shot 100's of the lee 400's. They are just as accurate as boolits cast from LBT, RCBS, NEI, mountain molds etc and clocking 1200 fps from my 7 1/2" SRH they never had leading issues.

While Lee lube grooves are minimal, they are sufficient for the 476-400 rf in a revolver

Been thinking for years that this caliber would just be the cats meow for a long range drop 'em all muzzleloader.
That boolit design is one to slobber over.

You must cast harder than I do, mine are 420-425 as solid after loop and checked
