Pewter, In the pot or not?

I found this very nice set at a yard sale, $10.00. It's 6.5 lbs but I figure the wood is maybe one pound. Is this a candidate for the pot?Attachment 146811

Get it checked out first. It might be worth more as is than as melt. I would also get it gunned to find out the actual alloy mix in it.

if it's worth anything the hallmarked name/stamp on the bottom will pop right up on a google search.
I have seen a lot of stuff valued at the price the thrift shop is asking for it, making the scrap value higher than the collector value.

Modern food service pewter, such as your tea set, has very little resale value. Check eBay and see how many items like yours sell for more than the cost of scrap tin after eBay takes their cut.

Pewter is close to 90% tin and about 8% antimony all good stuff to put into your pot.
