    Lee Enfield Fool Proof Sporterization Field Trial

    I don't know where this photo came from but here it is. Good ol' Lee Enfield and no, that is not me. I'm more grey haired.

    Notice the barrel doesn't look original. It's probably a 6mm Musgrave (6mm 303), given the barrel profile and the fact that one can't get close to baboons. Unless that's a tame one and didn't start out at the other end of the rifle.

    I still don't know where best to put this one. I love that photo! But it's not a true military rifle, nor is it a factory one. Mmmm ??? PM me some suggestions perhaps?

    Edited;
    OK. Thread stays!

    Just as well that 'boon is dead 'cos he is in for a bad case of Weatherby Brow the way he is holding that SMLE.

    I'm pretty sure that the shooter was my First Sergeant in the Army, but I'm a little confused as to what he is shooting because we had M-14s......

    That was good for a hearty laugh.....Remind everyone to NEVER invade NZ.....even the monkeys (yes I know it's a baboon- or at least I think I do...) are armed....

    There were experiments back in the 60's with Chimpanzees trained to handle firearms.

    You know, it's a sad state of affairs when a baboon in NZ has a nicer rifle than I do....

    He's probably a better shot too!

    Also small swords to be attached to dolphins nose and were trained to attack `frogmen` off N. `Nam. Never saw usage though since the dolphins weren`t that trainable for this type of work.Robert

    Reminds me of a scene from the Venture Brothers cartoons. Doctor Girlfriend says of one of the bad guys "he's a lawyer and a supervillian, thats like a shark with a rocket launcher strapped to its head".

    The Russians during WW2 would catch stray dogs and train them to expect to be fed only if they crawled under a captured german tank, then they'd strap sarchel charges with a timer on the dog's backs and release them near where they knew there were plenty of german tanks.

    I've heard the Navy has used dolphins to patrol harbors, not sure how that works.
    I think these days the dolphin just carries gear that warns of enemy swimmers or mini subs.

    That baboon isn't a naturalized New Zealander. He's still home in Africa, probably buried somewhere or just thrown into the bush.

    There's a you tube video of a chimp firing an AK47. I've just seen a raft of such video's but not that one. A group of Africans hand an AK to this chained up chimp who proceeds to fire it, causing the group to scatter. Only a chimp would hand a loaded and cocked AK to a chimp! Or did the chimp cycle it?
