    Bulk 9mmLuger to Makarove

Yesterday I started converting the small flat rate box of brass I recently bought. I started depriming the brass on my single stage press and after 20 some cases decided there had to be a better way. I looked at my lee 1000 and started thinking. I unscrewed the 9mm Mak. seating and powder through die out about 3 turns, and replaced the sizer with a universal de-primer.
I filled the coalater with cases and went to town. I cut the time to de-prime the brass by 75% over using the single stage
I don't like sizing new brass for the first time in a good sizer. I de-prime, trim, chamfer then clean the brass in stainless pins before sizing.

Is there a reason that you trim your cases before sizing them?

Probably because he measured new brass and found out the factory sometimes doesn't do as good a job as we can, when to comes to making them all the same length.

Why trim 9MM in the first place? If they were once fired they are fine to load.

The 9mm Makarov is shorter than 9mm Luger so the luger cases must be trimmed.

Since you've already got the machine set up for depriming you might as well set up another station and die and expand the case mouths as well. It will save you 1000 handlings.

With that new Lee Trim Die and a drill motor you could trim to length as well and you'd really be cooking!

When doing large batches of parts where ever you can eliminate handling a part you are doing that, times, the number of parts you have .

    It really adds up.
