Welcome aboard huntingohio. I think you will find as I have that the folks here on this board are a great bunch. You will learn a lot of stuff about the hobby. I suggest that you look through each section and note the stickies at the top of each section. These are important comments about a particular thing dealing with that general topic. These are very informative and possibly will answer questions you may have about a particular subject. I will warn you that this site is additive, and we are all caught up in the maddness.

45 acp's in general thrill me. Kimber Team Match II, Colt 70 Gold Cup Match, Rock Island (s), ruger blackhawk convertible, s n w 625 are just the ones I have held on to.

+1 on great folks here. Read, re-read, re-re-read the stickys. Do lots of searches and dont feel bad about asking questions.

    Welcome to the addiction!

I'm not an older guy (that I'll admit) creeping towards mid 40's and I've owned 3 1911's, the only auto pistols I've ever owned, currently have one. My middle son is a young fellow, 21 and a US Marine, he does like the new fangled plastic pistols but carries a 1911.

Welcome to the CastBoolits forum, huntingOhio. There's a wealth of knowledge here and some of the greatest people you'd ever hope to meet. When I got out of the USMC my wife finally let me buy a pistol. Of course I couldn't affort any name brands so I picked up a Norinco (they were being imported from ChinaSports then) for 299 and have been shooting it ever since. I carried a 1911 while in the Marine Corps so getting another 1911 was just the natural thing to do. I've not changed it much; I had the feed ramp polished and my gunsmith friend took it apart and smoothed all the burs off the inter workings of the pistol. Out of the box it wouldn't even chamber a 230 grain hardball. Now it chambers most anything I've put into the mags. I've accumulated about 10 additional mags plus the original that came with the pistol. A lot of people bash the Norinco but it has been a faithful pistol and a good shooter. BC

    Welcome aboard!!

    45 ACP? That's not a 357 magnum.

Sorry, but I am a serious 357 nut.
