Don't remember seeing this mentioned; but an easy way to size down a few boolits for patching is to run a bottle necked case into a larger diameter push thru die and then cut the case off at the body/ shoulder junction with a Dremel tool or hack saw. I'd lapped out a Lee push-thru .285" to .302" and was needing to size some 7mm boolits to .277, so I ran a .270 Winchester case into the .301 die and cut the case off at the shoulder. Got lucky and the "bushing" was sizing the .285" boolits to .276" when pushed thru the die. A little lapping with valve grinding compound opened the bushing up to .277" and I was able to size about 100 boolits easily without having to by a push thru die. A .325" die with a .30-30 neck run into it works pretty well for sizing down to .301" if you want to try patching boolits without buying the die.
