I bought a new range toy almost a month ago and I started keeping track of how many rounds I had through it , I looked today and I am about 425 but hope to push that over 500 tomorrow

of course I couldn't be shooting this much if I wasn't casting and reloading although the first 250 rounds were factory , I haven't shot that much factory ammo in years aside from 22lr

When 22LR was plentiful, I used to shoot a lot more in each range session since it was so cheap. Not it's mainly IDPA once or twice a month and perhaps 1 more outing, and for the most part it's all my 9mm cast reloads (cheaper than 22LR nowadays). I'm not complaining at all, as I really don't have time to do much more at this point in my life. I voted 200-300.

I returned to air guns about a month and a half ago, and can now shoot in my garage. My monthly round count has gone up to well over a thousand.

Between my sons and myself I shoot 50 to 100 223 every week and at least 50 7.62 so between a couple of us it averages 3000 a month give or take a few hundred. Sure glad I bought those dillons when they were just starting out they have paid for themselves a hundred times over.

Last month the count was about 600 mostly center fire. Who can afford to shoot 22s ,I think they started gold plating 22s bullets.
This month zero- Catch up time, casting, lube, loading, smelting. I swear if i even think about shooting some family obligation comes up.

If its pistol testing day maybe 2 to 3 hundred. If my grandson wants to go could be a grand all calibers included.

Range trip twice a month, 100 rounds each pistol, maybe 2 30 round AR mags, might bring 1 other rifle and shoot another 50-60 rounds... so probably around 700 to 1,000 rounds a month depending on what I bring. SKS I go through a lot of ammo(it is dirt cheap) same for the Type 53 on the archangel conversion where I am shooting surplus 7.62x54r that I picked up for 20 cents a round. If I bring the 10/22 it is easy to burn 300 rounds or more...

I have a sand filled boolit trap in the back yard, 25 yard range. I was shooting 200 rnds. per day for a while but have slowed down to 100 per day about 4 days per week. Sure am glad I left FL and moved to TN.

I shoot at our range at least once a week and more when we have a match. If not for casting and reloading it would not be possible due to the expense of factory ammo.

I don`t shoot much over 100 + or - . Really depends which rifles I shoot.

This year I've only shot 300 rounds in the powder burners. Like jcwit, I use airguns. Since November when I got the newest one, I've shot about 5000 rounds through the two rifles. I shoot in my welding shop and can get about 40 feet of range space. It's heated in winter and air conditioned in summer. At the end of the day I walk across the driveway, wash my hands and then go back to the shop to shoot. It might be ten minutes, it might be an hour depend how beat I am after working all day.

If I shoot the powder guns I have a twenty minute drive each direction and then have to put up with the usual things about waiting to change target s and the like.

I can't really average it out very easily. Since I shoot machine guns it is not at all unusual to go through thousands of rounds in one session. I spend most of my spare time casting and reloading so I CAN go through thousands of rounds.
I am also stocking up on ammo. Just finished 1000 44 mag RCBS 250swc Keith type cast loads. Not wristbreakers but 7, 8 and 9 gr WW231. I'll shoot these up and see what is the most accurate and pleasant to shoot.
All set for a while in 44 mag plinker loads. Getting low on 9mm and 380 so that is next on the casting sizing and reloading agenda.
I am just glad I don't own any belt fed guns!

Down here in the real south things are very well controlled so I have to ration my expenditures. I fire 15 rounds of 38 Special (revolver) and 6 rounds of 44 WCF through my model 92 Winchester. Actually I rotate between the two monthly. Next month the 92 gets out with 12 rounds.
When I am up north there it depends on how many Mondays I am home. Monday is my free day so I am at the range. The life of being a re-loader and caster. No limits. No shortages. You all need to wake up every day and Thank God you were born where you are. I sure do even if I reside in ILLinois when up there.

Boy isn't that the truth! I was mulling the cost of my hobby over in my head the other day and came to the conclusion that i can shoot virtually all my pistol caliber guns ALMOST CHEAPER than I can shoot a .22 today.
I use 231 powder and a LOT goes a long way. I just finished 1000 44 mag 250gr swc using 7, 8, and 9 grains of 231. Averaged out to 8 grains of 231 X 1000 = 8000 gr of powder....a pound and some change of 231. 3.3 cents per load for powder. Primers at about the same. Brass and lead is negligible cost (I got literally a ton of wheel weights for free once and brass is reusable). 6 cents per round is about $3 for a box of 50. $30 for 500 or $60 a thousand.
But that does not count the cost of the equipment to do all this, but it has been amortized over many years of use. And my time? Not applicable because it is the relaxation and the hobby. As my sweetie says "...I am man knitting" when i cast and reload.
When was the last time bricks of 500 .22's were $30?
