What is it? What should I do with it?

Neighbor brought this over, asked if anything could be done with it? No markings on it whatsoever. knock off model 61? trigger is missing a few parts, there is a section of pitting in the bore about 2 inches from the muzzle, there is a decent amount of rust, stocks are cracked. it is in 22LR. Any thoughts? sorry for the awful pictures.

Hard to tell for sure from the angle of your pics, but I believe it is a Reminton Model 12.

I think cliff55 is correct. I missed, what I think, is the pin in front of the ejection port. Also, is the stock have a radiased on the front of the pistol grip, where it attaches to the receiver? Clean off the paint on the left side of the receiver. If it is a Savage, it will probably have Savage rollmarked there. A Remington is usually marked on the top of the barrel, between the receiver and the front sight.

In the condition it is in, I doubt that it is going to have a relatively low value, but depending on what it needs for parts, it would be a fun plinker. I agree that Numrich is the place to start. I think the Savage parts are going to be harder to find, but the internet is a great tool.

I put it in an electrolysis bath tonight, all of the rust and paint came off like rib meat falling of a bone.......will post a picture later. Turns out it is a Sears Robuck Ranger 102-35. Which is the knock off savage 29 for sears. still have to find parts, but i think the cost to fix would be more than a used one in decent shape would cost.
