41 Magnum heavy-hitter options?

This could easily be run as .412".
If you have anything similar in this diameter, using a large meplat of comparable size, could you post any specifics on the mould and/or any results?

We're trying to get a group buy going at NOE and would appreciate input from any 41 Mag fans.

A design similar to LBTs LFN design, but not exactly the same. I had a 265 gr Ballisticast LFN copy, and learned early on that the super heavies weren't compatible with my early Redhawks twist rate. It only liked 210 gr bullets, and it liked them loaded really hot. I hear things are better now.

I'd have thought a WFN from Veral would be similar, but never saw the meplat diameter on one of his LFNs. What was the meplat measurement from your sample, if available?... Thanks.

I've seen a number of LBT copies, and I originally thought Veral was simply playing the old "if it's not LBT, it's a copy" game, then he told me what to look for on the nose profile. It's amazing, the difference may not necessarily be significant, but it is there. He even outlines it in his book. It's the meplat profile of all things.

This is a 265 grain wide Long Nose from an LBT mold. Were I doing it again I would fore go the gas check. The dimensions on the bullet are:

Length - .838
Meplat - .330
crimp groove to nose - .420

This bullet fits Ruger and Smith cylinders and I can say it was a hammer on a cougar and a mule deer doe. That's the only critters on which its been used. Sorry for the sideways pic. It was right side up in my computer. It want's to post sideways.

The SSK (NEI) 275411 at 290gr is a hard hitter. The SSK bullet will chamber in most revolvers.

The Accurate #41-340J and the #41-340K are REAL HEAVY HITTERS.

you will start impinging on the powder charge- I shot the 300 SSk .411 for a long time- it killed a few deer just fine but no better that the 255 LWNGC I shoot now in a .410 GNR(.41/454) which is an early Redhawk and it did not like the SSK411-- 265 gr and up is fine never tried the 280 but likely will
for me in my normal standard .41 I use a 230gr LFN or a 230 Keith
All the bullets from 230 up have shot fine and kill fine on deer an the one boar I killed
shoot what you like and the gun likes -- and have fun and tell us about it

I've been an avid 41 Mag shooter for 35+ years. I have a good assortment of moulds that have fed multiple favorites during that time, but nothing quite like this...and I'd like to add it to the selection on hand. I think it'll be a nice addition to anyone's 41 cal options.
The heaviest I have now weighs 230 gr.. It was cut by NEI when Walt still answered the phone. Everthing else runs between 210 and 225 nominal weights.

I've had good results in revolvers (using PB), and have a shot a little with it, in a levergun...but more testing needed for that. I had a heck of a time finding a GC that'd work with the GC mold...After trying several samples from Sage, I finally found one, that goes on easy and crimps on tight and square. I haven't loaded any yet.

Ive about settled on the lbt 250 lfngc for a 41 hunting bullet. It has worked well on deer for me so I don't worry to much about a bigger metplat. Ive fooled with bullets heavier but most don't stabilize well. The lbt is plenty heavy and its shot great in every 41 ive owned. my mold is getting tired and I wouldn't waste my money on replacing it with anything but another.

I like Veral's moulds in a big way. I have quite a few, but none in .411-.412 diameter.
With NOE's inventory constantly improving, this WFN ought to be a nice addition. Al has a very nice 412-238 WFN design available, but the nose profile would be better described as LFN, I think.
This mould should be scheduled soon, so I'm expecting to see a few field reports this year from both range sessions and hunting. I expect those reports to positive, and to see a good 41 option added to the "Available" listings at NOE.
I'm looking forward to the delivery of mine.
