    Earthquake in Oregon

I live in Springfield Oregon. We just had a pretty good earthquake here. Shook the house pretty good. Kinda odd for around here.

Little crazy... Mother in law is down in Springfield and she called to see if we felt anything, not a thing up here in Portland and thank God because earthquakes freak the wife out. Hope you didnt suffer any damages.

I hope y'all stay safe up there. It might be a good idea to store up some food and water.

4.2 according to the USGS. And relatively shallow, only 9.9 Km depth

9.9km is very shallow. The quake that levelled a lot of our city was that shallow.

Thats almost certainly what has been causing the quakes here in Kansas & Oklahoma, if fact I think that was confirmed.

I live about 20 miles west of Springfield. At 8:43 am Saturday I felt a short shake. Called my neighbor and he said
he didn't feel anything. At first I thought, maybe, it was the coffee but a while later it was confirmed on local news.
Last one I felt here was back in the mid 90's.

I wonder if an earth tremor caused that ice cave roof colapse that happened recently.
The news of course was blaming it on "unseasonable warm weather, as if July isn't a warm month, but from the photos the ice looked solidly frozen with distinct fracture surfaces, not melted. The ice cave ice is the debris from avalanches further up in the mountains and full of dirt and rock so its likely that its weak compared to pure ice.

Only a 4.2? Wouldn't even make the beer fizz. Fun doesn't start until 5.5.
