12 ga Winchester ranger shot shells

Hey i received these in a package deal with something else I bought. I know they are 1950s. Are they dangerous to keep stored in my garage? Also, do they have any value to them?

I have some 12 and 16 ga and keep em stored in an ammo can. Shot some of the 16 ga many years ago and they worked just fine.

Cause they are loaded, doesn't that mean they contain gun powder?

Many a young man learned the art of wing shooting with these shells. Keep them high and dry and in an ammo can if possible. Next gunshow take them in a zip lock bag with original box if possible, there will be people want to buy them. Nice find.Robert

Now, THAT is a blast from the past! Yes, pun intended! Bet they will fire like modern shells for sure! And +1 on the gun show thing, may be some collector needs those for his old Model 12 to make a showcase. Ya never know. As far as storage, no different from modern shot shells, so store them correctly and no problems should be had. Good luck to you.

I uncovered a case of old 12 gauge shells at Grandad's in the late 60's... I promise those were from the '40s
We hauled 'em down to the creek and maybe 1 or 2 out of 15-20 would not fire....
    these were OLD shells.
Also found an ancient box of shells with Dad's old Smith triple lock 44...
They went to the creek to pop turtles too.... maybe 2 out of 50 failed to fire... not bad considering the age.
Neither were exactly stored properly, but just stuck in the back of a closet or drawer.
Still have that sweet Smith too...
Salvaging old Marlins is not a pasttime...it's a passion
