    Cooey 22LR Model 82 SS

There is one at the local LGS for $100 - fair condition.

If I had access to more 22, might be more interested....

I'll look for military stamps next time - Canadian.

    any thoughts?

The last one I saw was going for maybe $125 (can't remember exactly) and I thought it was not an unreasonable price. Didn't buy it because I was out of state and have plenty of .22s already, but I've always had a sneaking admiration for that Enfield looking military model. The one I saw was in very good shape, though.

There are people who collect trainer rifles, drill rifles and dummy rifles as a specialty. With good advertising, I wouldn't think you'd have a lot of trouble unloading it again at $100.

Glut of 22 Rifles, kinda of dry on 22 ammo. It is cool looking gun - based on it's history. might be more interesting if Canadian Military marked - have to see. Numrich has the little plate on the end of the bolt - cheap.

    I'll look at again.

    Thanks for info.

They are the nicest thrifty 22s out there. The price is a steal. They regulary go on sale here for 300+. You can still find the odd one for a 100 to 150 range. The Canadian markings should be a stylized capitol C with a capital A within the C. Usually found on the breech and on the stock, they have a serial number too, unlike the civilian versions. Many were modified with a rear sight to mimic the No4 sights and some had a faux mag attached for FN C1 training. There should be a screw hole just forward of the take down screw if is such an example. I have one in full military comfiguration and it shoots crazy accurate. I have seen many cut down examples (bubbaed) but are still good shooters
Nice find, trainers them selves are rare, neat pice of history.
P.S. Marstar. ca had techincal drawing of the M82 Cooey on thier website.
