I think we're getting closer to a group buy.

    Something to look at

    Can make any changes needed
Top lube groove could be changed to a standard crimp groove - just not on the drawing

I would like to see the top lube groove as a crimp groove but other than that it looks great. Any benefit to a rounded bottom HP over a more pointy one?

Is there a issue with the bottom of the HP terminating at the lube groove/crimp groove that would endanger its integrity as its thinned out there. An issue I'm dealing with on a .500 S&W mold lately it seems like. Not a critique just a question I guess.

I can only answer from my experiences, but I believe that a fatter HP holds heat better and releases easier than my pointy ones in some of my other HP's that I have made. My own HP'd versions of this have adjustable pins, so I vary my depth from just a dimple to as deep as the bottom lube groove and I haven't exploded any yet, they just plump up to around the size of a .45 cal in water jugs at 1050 fps, but I haven't pushed any much faster than that. I suppose it would depend on your alloy and how hard you pushed it. I don't have a .500 S&W, but I bet that's a lot of fun to light off a big load in!

I agree that I'd prefer a crimp groove versus a 3rd lube groove. I have no experience with hollow point mold so I can't comment there.

I'm assuming at 360 it could be sized down to 358?

If that is what they drop at you'll hardly notice the lubersizer touching the bullet.

Good enough for me. Hopefully we can move this over to active once we get the details as far as number of cavities and materials ironed out.

The final design is up and ready for approval in the discussion. If we get enough to like the design, we can move into the Group Buy.

Review it here and add your approval on the NOE site if you are ready to roll with this design. 150gr HP and 161gr Solid

Me too. This went from a "that sure is a cool WC HP I sure would to have one," to a "let's see if we can do it" very rapidly.

I joined up over there, not sure how much I'll frequent there but since he seems to have better turn around I may stick around and pitch some ideas of my own. He offers a close clone of the 358101 (75gr wadcutter for the .38) not sure how it does compared to the version with the crimp groove but I'm seriously considering getting that mold as I only have the original 1 cavity.

Got mine, gonna try and cast some up later tonight and hopefully make it out to the range this weekend. Should be good close in medicine for groundhogs. I assume ~148gr data is what should be a good starting point for the large HP?
