    C309-113-F in .30-30

I have loaded a lot of Lee C309-150 and 170-F in a Mossberg 464 Tactical. Anyone had any experience with the light weight 113 grain? Have some sized at .311 from 20 BHN with gas checks. Thanks.

I've had excellent results with 30-30 using the Lee C309-113-F sized .310 over Alliant 2400, 16.0 gr at OAL 2.310 using White Label 2500+ lube in both my H&R Handi and Marlin 336. My data shows .310 worked better than .309 but I never bothered to try .311. My alloy is hardball (6/2/92). Had equally good results using either FreeChecks or Hornady gc's.

I size that boolit to .311 for my Marlin 336 and load 9grs of Trailboss which gets me the same poi as my Lee 150gr Boolit loaded with 22.6grs (if I remember correctly) of 3031.

Wow! I have an old H&R in .30-30 from the early 80s, so it's smaller and more diminutive than the current ones and is also a good shooter. Never tried it with loads like this, but it might could take the place of my .22 Hornet. I think I have some of these my Dad cast for me, gonna have to try them now.

Eaves dropping on this post has convinced me to buy the 113gr mold! I've put a double-handful of lee 170fngc thru my marlin 336, got to try the 113 now......

Try 8.0gr Unique or 3.5gr Bullseye with the Lee 309-113F in the 30-30. When I shoot these in my H&R Handy rifle it makes me giggle...I just can't help it! It groups similar to the above photos but, shot at 50 yards.

    Not for me.
I have the lee 90 grn tl but could only get about an inch or larger at 50 yrds.
On my gun I can breach seat them and the cases just touch base
If I thinned some case necks and left them a larger size to fill the throat right up they may work for me thou.
I will have five eights of sfa to hold the bullet in the case thou.
I think I may play with them again soon thou with more oomph than 2.5 grns bullseye.
You either hate or love the old h&r 30-30 but they are what they are and do what they do.

Hey folks. My Mossberg 464 shoots great with the 309-113-F sized .310 with Tac-X. Charge is 8.8 grains Unique for around 1475 fps, basically a warm .32-20 WCF. I wonder how well they would shoot if I just left off the gas check? I poured a bunch of them last night, will have to find out. No reason to put on a gas check if I don't have to.

My initial results with the 309-113F have been positive in .30 Carbine and two different 30-30s. I intend to try it in .300 Blackout when I get the chance. I'm using 50/50 COWW and fishing sinkers sized .309" with thinned LLA lube.

Thanks. Do you gas check them?

I use Hornady gas checks on them. Let us know how they do without when you try it.

.310" rb's are a hoot in the 30-30. I've hunted squirrels with them.

The .30-30 is fun with such bullets. I shot some similar loads through an old Savage 219 just the other day, used 6.5 grains of old Alcan 120 which burns like Red Dot.

That Lee 113 grainer was what I used here, some of my dad's handloads with 5 grains of Clays according to his note.

Kinda weird how that rule changes so much. For the longest time any rimfire or centerfire rifle or handgun could be used, now it's just rimfire. But, you can now hunt turkeys with a .410 if you like, whereas previously it had to be at least 20 gauge.

    C309-113-F, gas-checked, tumble lubed, sized .311, in 30-30 lever-action.

    9 grains Trailboss for 50 m target/plinking loads.
    19 - 20.5 grains H4198 for 100m loads.
(not sure of the twist in the Mossberg - For the H4198 loads I had to keep them under 1700fps in a 10 twist but can shoot them at 1900 in a 14 twist, groups open up if shot at too high a velocity)
