    Lube in Lee 457340 RFP

The lube grooves are very small in this bullet. Have any of you had issues with "running out of lube with this bullet? Just wondering as I compared it to other bullets of comparable size.

I'll be limiting velocities to a MAX of 1400-1500 fps in a original 1886 with this one. Barrel in the gun is one of the smothest barrels I have in any gun so that should NOT be an issue.

Not a problem at the velocities you propose

Have used 28 gr. 4198 with the Lee 340 gr., and getting about 1450 fps with no problem of lube running out and causing leading at the muzzle. Nice shooting load for anyone at the range who wants to shoot that "big .45-70" - doesn't punish the shoulder of those not used to it.

..............I haven't had any problems with it. The longest barrel I've shot it out of is the Sharps with a 28" tube. I think at about your mentioned velocity too.
