Spices Coming Out The EARS! Arrrrghhhhh!!

Both myself and my gf love to cook, and so after combing two kitchens worth of stuff we have many duplicates of a lot of things. The spices were driving us NUTS! They were stuck here, stuck there, stuck wherever they would fit. Had to go and make the lap of all their hiding places to find something.. Ugh!

She had gotten this big armoire style entertainment center from Craigslist to use as a pantry and it had just enough room behind the closed doors to fit some carefully measured spice racks so this is the result. I used oak strips from Lowe's and Home Depot, and Fiebing's Oil Dye (for leather) to match the color of the wood.

Ok that's impressive. I wish my kitchen had half that much organization to it.

Yes I can be long winded. Yes I follow rabbit trails. Yes I admit when I am wrong. Your mileage may vary.

I just have a 12 inch wide upper cabinet quad decked full of stacked spices... and what I want is always in back and on the bottom!

that's way cool. we have a Hoosier cabinet with the extra side cabinets that takes up almost a whole wall in the kitchen and its packed full of spices. every time you open it up the aroma overwhelms you.

Is ketchup a spice or a condiment?

Nice work Doug. Looks great. Now I have to close this before my wife sees it.

A good friend of mine served in the navy. Apparently on his ship ketchup was referred to as "navy gravy"!

I still root through five shelves in 1 1/2 cupboards. I really need to make an effort, but space is the issue.

Now THAT is a SPICE RACK! You guys eat really well, don't you? Since my diet is now restricted, I've found spices to be the "secret" of eating well and still staying within my diet's requirements pretty strictly. There's a reason we speak of "the spice of life!"

    It's a vegetable. Around our house, it's a beverage.
