Fairly busy these days, but when I wandered close to the lead stash it called to me. Set about weighing lead and tin for a 30:1 mix on scales that measure to 1/10th ounce. Weighed chunks until I thought it about right with assorted ingots from a Lyman ingot mould and muffin tin. 15# zero ounces on the button when I added them up.

Put a stick of tin on the scale previously whacked from a 1# bar. 8.0 ounces on the button.

Probably I should play the lottery today?

I can't get quite as accurate as you but my postal scales weights to 1/16 oz. up to 10 lb's

Odds are, I would have had melted the tin down and cast it into 2 oz pieces before hand. Great eye! I'm not nearly so lucky.

I have a good day filling my pill/vitamin box some weeks. Amazing when I pour exactly 7 (or 14) pills into my hand.

I do my pewter in a small muffin tin, then cast several in various size bullet molds to I can get closer when I mix my melt.

I make ingots in muffin tins, the previously mentioned Lyman mould and an ancient iron corn stick pan. The scale I use is limited to 5# and the various ingots weigh from around 14 OZ to 1# 14 OZ and tenths here and there of course. So it's weigh and tally until it looks about right. Sort of how airlines used to navigate back in the day with the infamous TLAR nav system (That Looks About Right). The most perplexing aspect of the whole charade is adding pounds, ounces and tenths thereof. Calculators don't, so it's up to my old rusty noodle to sort that out.

I like round numbers, but they never are.
