In 2020 congress finally forced the VA to provide Agent Orange coverage to Blue Water Navy Vietnam veterans. RIP shipmates that never received proper care.

" Freedom is not Free" Freedom is free for freeloaders. The majority of US citizens would not volunteer for the US military (especially if there was a shooting war). There are generations of families who have never shed a drop of blood or sweat for this country.

Except unlike Independence Day, Memorial Day, or what was once called Decoration Day, keeps moving from the traditional May 30.

I can't imagine the jubilation at that time and moment, the love of country and the moral fiber that existed then.

Je me souviens. Ottawa. The absolute crazy wild jubilation of the swarming crowds, and the peals of the carillon from the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. VJ Day had almost no impact whatsoever, except a sense of relief and that we'd get our POWs back from that ill-fated expedition to Hong Kong.
