    Martini in 7MM Waters

Finally finished a project I started collecting parts for 10 years ago. Picked up a 1215 receiver and barrel and sent it to Vic Samuels who assembled and chambered it and put a couple blocks of wood on it. Business has been pretty slow so I took a file and sandpaper to it and got it set up.
I took it out yesterday to try some loads in it. I looked in the Lyman manual and elsewhere for some loads that I had powder for. 740, 3031, and 4895 were the ones I actually had powder for. The 748 and 3031 were so so with the best group coming in at 2 to 3 inches. Then I tried the 4895 and the first group was 1 1/2" by 2 1/4" which considering this is a deer gun would work OK. The last load I tried was a grain higher and when I got to the target there was a ragged hole that was 3/4" wide by 1/2" high dead in the center of the X-ring. I thought that was pretty good so I adjourned to the deck and celebrated with several adult beverages and took in a beautiful spring evening.
Yo say that I'm happy with this rifle would be an understatement although with the price of 22LR I kinda wish It was one of the 22 centerfires which I could reload for less that what 22s are bringing.

I have one, too, and I think it might be my favorite whitetail rifle.

I don't know if you have an interest in shooting cast bullets in your 7 Waters or not ? ?

I also realize I'm comparing apples and oranges here.

But 7 mm is 7 mm.

I have a 7 X 57 mm Ruger that shoots cast very well, thought that you might be interested in seeing the test targets, see link below :

Ben, I shoot cast in most of my guns but don't really have any 7MM molds and was going to keep this one for jacketed.

Fine, just thought I'd share that the 7mm bore can shoot cast very well.

I have a 7-30 Waters in a 14 inch Contender. It is the most accurate Contender I own. Know you will enjoy your rifle...
