    35 XCB bullet mold design.

Al Nelson has just informed me that he has started a signup for the 35XCB bullet mold (designed by me).
I have hopes that this will be one of the most versitile 35 caliber bullet designs in the world, and I expect great things from this bullet.

Here is the signup thread on the NOE website:
    http://noebulletmolds.com/smf/index....2.html#msg7032

Many of you are familiar with the XCB concept and the enormous strides we have made with the 30XCB bullet and the rifles and tools I have created, concerning shooting cast lead at high velocity with accuracy.
The XCB concept is an all encompassing project that has been the main recipient of my personal effort for quite some time now, starting in 2011 and continuing on to the present. The rifles, tools, measuring equipment, and reloading dies have all been tuned to my liking before being put into the field for extensive testing by castboolits greats such as Larry Gibson and Bjorn Borud along with many others.
However, the effort for design and implementation that was given to the project as a whole, pales in comparison with the effort I extended towards the bullet designs.
They were designed to fit the rifles perfectly, and very careful measurements were taken of the throats and chamber characteristics of the rifles in order to bring these designs to fruition. The designs were created, reviewed, scrapped, and repeated until I could find no weakness in the entire system whatsoever. Part of the design process included submitting the proposed design for stress evaluation with ballistics simulation software that would exaggerate the effects of torsional deformation, accelerative deformation, centrifugal force, and plasticization.
All of these forces were taken into consideration and the designs were both bolstered against these forces while maintaining the highest ballistic coefficient possible.

Make no mistake about it. I intended to design the most advanced cast bullet ever created, and I believe I have done so.

I am very excited about this bullet design, and the moment Al told me he was ready to pull the trigger on it, I ordered a custom barrel. I intend to build myself a rifle to utilize this bullet for long range hunting applications, and I expect it to be able to perform exceedingly well at speeds up to 2700FPS.

Gentlemen, from my shop to yours, I wish you enjoyment from this bullet design and those coming in the future.

Me too, I was going to PM Goodsteel and see if he already had a 35XCB in the works. Guess he did. Now, all we need is a 50bmgXCB!!!

How does this fit in a .358 Winchester Remington 700 short action?

Couldn't remember off the top of my head that the standard Rem short action mag length is 2.8" So this should fit fine.

Well, looks like I am #8, or maybe #9 since Goodsteel isn't there quite yet. Go 35 XCB!

I expect the 35 XCB to be a slam dunk in any 35 caliber rifle. It was designed specifically for the 35XCB wildcat that I have made, but it is a very strong design regardless of the throat configuration.
The 30 XCB was designed specifically for the wildcat cartridge that bears the same name, but it has been a solid performer in 30-06, 308, and 30-30.

I think you're actually #11 once Goodsteel gets his two molds added to the list.

We should be Go for tooling now.

I didn't see his (Tim's) name on the sign-up list, and since he started things off, I presume his 2 don't count somehow? Either way, it's gettin' real close if not already there.

Bring it on. This one's got my dander up.
I shot the 35XCB wildcat on Saturday and I was very impressed with the recoil and accuracy. Definitely everything I had hoped it would be. Still little enough case capacity to be a 3031 lover, but enough more to really kick it in the pants and get that bullet up to 2500+FPS.
Improving the 358 Winchester for cast lead is a tall order, but I do believe I have done so.

    (edit to add)
The parent case for the 35XCB is the 30-06 and/or its ilk. It gains a few grains of case capacity over the 358 Winchester, has a long cast bullet friendly neck, and carries the option of being pushed out to 35 Whelen length (or anything in between) if it ever seems like it needs more sauce.
