    Good morning
And to think a mere 100 years ago this act of open carry display was not policticly uncorrect.

With the price of shot now, I don't think you could shoot too many rounds of trap with that gun.

No worries there. Handling is so sluggish I'd never get a shot.

Wonder how many pigeons it got per shot?

How big a ladder did you need just to load that thing?

I've read of one much like this being mounted on a fishing trawler and used to sink a rival trawler during a dispute over Chesapeake bay fishing grounds in the late 19th or early 20th century. The crew of the rival trawler had fired on several other fishing boats and was believed to have murdered several other crews.

Captain Peter Hawker, designed a Double Punt Gun,one Barrel Flint the other Percussion. It had a single Trigger, both the cock and hammer fell together, the percussion going off fractionally prior to the Flint. The first got the Wildfowl on the water the second Barrel fired as the boat lifted with the recoil hitting the Birds that where rising. From all accounts it was a money maker since you got a good bag at one go and did not have to wait for the Fowl scared off by with a single shot. This was commercial wild fowling where Punt guns where a business Tool.

    That's a pretty creative idea.

Saw a demo at the Pointe Mouillee waterfowl festival years ago. The punt backed up almost a full boat length (~20') when the guy touched it off. Don't know what the (Black powder) load was but the bore was ~2" IIRC.

Back in the day, when it was legal, the foulers down here used such guns to supply the resturants with ducks. They would mount the gun on their skiffs and slip through the marshes until they came upon a large enough flock sitting on the water. Then they would touch it off at water level and let the shot just skip right in to the ducks. Make a game warden cring today.
Most folks see a firearm as rifle, pistol, shotgun, ect.... I see a canvas.

And that with just a load of powder and some wadding, essentially a "Blank". Just think what it was like with x weight of shot added to the equation.
