Added To My Stash From A Charity Bazar

I was at a charity fund raiser and actually found something helpful for prepping. On the used book table I picked up a copy of "Splint Woven Basketry" by Robin Taylor Daugherty. For $2.00 I couldn't go wrong, it covers the selection of materials and the basic techniques and patterns for making baskets from a variety of natural materials. I have no particular desire to make baskets but I am sure in some survival situations baskets would be very helpful things to have for carrying and storage. So my fund raiser find will be placed on my bookshelf with my Survival Library for future reference.

I had not thought about baskets before seeing the book but now I am thinking about finding some more basic texts for other skills that might come in handy. Perhaps pottery, weaving, grafting or other subjects should also be in the library. Please list suggested subjects and any particularly good beginner texts you may know about.

You never know when a prepping opportunity will present its self.

I bet your horses would appreciate a new basket after all of these years.

Oats served with a generous supply of slivers is not appreciated.

They eat out of a bucket. I need to find a good cooper book. Maybe I could feed them in a Mini Cooper!

Baskets like the trappers use have straps and a large capacity for carrying incidentals; some baskets are custom made for use in canoes and can be shaped to fit odd contours.
