W748 Load Data for the 303 Brit with 150gr Bullets?

At first glance I can't seem to find any load data for W748. I did find data for BL-C(2) which is 'similar' and it is impressive, like 2756 fps at a mere 39,200 CUP! OK so I don't have any of that powder (but will into for future use). Basically I want to get my original sporterized Lee Enfield out the safe. It used to do MOA or close to it (ten shots) so with better cases and a different powder I should be able to establish a datum. Bullets are 150gr Hornady spire points. I don't know how they shot as good as the did with such a short bearing surface with such a long nose! I should have spent more for Sierra's. Anyway, I find myself a little in the dark as to where to start. Any suggestions?

The Lyman 49th has W748 at 39gr to 43.5 with the 150gr Hornady SP. Hope that helps.

Yep....2149 & 2523 respectively. I would really recommend that you buy the Lyman 49th manual. Its one of the best and great value.

When you are shooting, say up to 300yards,what does 100feet/per second matter, any of the military style powders will work.2206,2206H and 2208(varget) are good and should be easier to find in New Zealand.

the 4895 has done very well in my 303's with a 150gr bullet.
mine likes the sierra also by far, which kinda sucks as my 7.7 likes the hornady's.

Thanks. I know Varget works well with 150's having used it before but I don't keep it because it looks identical to H4350 which I do keep and use with 180's and also in my 25/303. It's my policy to only keep powders that can be distinguished from one another. 4895 is on the menu but I have W748 already and can get more (we don't suffer the same shortages as you folks do - some shortages yes. I had to wait a while to get the primers I wanted but plenty of others). I must say the Australian powders do cover all needs.

One powder that interests me is BL-C(2) - 2756 fps at only 39,200 CUP and then there's N133 maxing out at 2949 fps! The latter isn't listed with any pressures but even the starting load is screaming at 2753! I could live with pressures as low as 39,000 CUP. But for paper targets that's not necessary. In fact, I found 2700 fps a bit fast on game for the Hornady bullet. They did too much damage but they killed all right.
