I've had 4 of the standard 3" guns...kept the worst of the lot. Had been carried a lot, looked like it had been shot little and had been to Mag-Na-Port...but it's a great shooter...
Picked up some zinc bullets when one of the distributors were closing them out and they really shoot great from the short barrels...think they are 160 or so grains...
Bob
Looked at the zinc bullets...they are 180 grains but about the length of a 220 grain lead bullet.
Last two days I was shooting all my single actions that have short ejector rod length barrels. The .41s were a Freedom Arms 97, Freedom Arms 83, Ruger Blackhawk and a Uberti Cattleman in .41 Special...
They just balance and shoot so well....
Bob
That is the way I like em.............
How is that New Frontier shooting for ya...?
Great!
I was in a local shop, they have a stainless Bisley Blackhawk 6 1/2 in 41 mag. It’s on consignment and I think it was 650$, just heads up if anyone is interested.

That should be a 5.5" and at $650, if in the original box is a steal...that have been breaking $900 on GunBroker...
Could be, I didn’t look really close. Don’t know if it has the box. It’s at Teds sporting goods in Columbia TN. I have NO affiliation, either seller or store, just thought somebody might be lookin for one. I did notice that it looked really clean.

I have the ss 41 mag bisley with 5.5” barrel. It is one of my favorite single actions. It will be going deer hunting with me on nov 13th.
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!
A question on wadcutters for those of you that been there and done that...
Have two molds...
MP Molds: 210 solid, 190 HP or HB depending on the direction of travel
Lee: 165
Powders available:
Unique
W-231
700-X
Bullseye
Cases will be STARLINE .41 SPECIAL not Magnum.
Want no more that 800 fps from a 4" gun. These will be mainly used in a FA 97 and Taurus Trackers for target shooting and as a close range small game load...like well under 50 yards, so there is something left to eat...
The MP WCs will be run as a Hollow Base.
Anyone with data for .44 Special using 180-200 grain WC loads with actual velocity data would be helpful also...
I got this off LoadData.com for .41 Magnum with a standard bullet...so it is where about I will start
215 SWC Winchester W-231 4.0 770
Any thoughts would be appreciated...Bob
Ended up trying 6.5 grains of Unique as that is the lowest the Dillon power measure would go without pulling it apart and putting in the small bar. Made up about 30 of each bullet and hope to test them shortly.
Finally chronographed one of my .41 Magnum loads of 220 grain Arsenal Molds RFN with 8 1/2 grains of Unique. The load ran 1055 f.p.s. average out of a 4 inch Model 57 Smith and Wesson. This will be a very good all round load for around the farm.
Is that the mold from the recent group buy? If it is, I have that one. It looks more like a wfn with a large meplat. I haven’t shot anything with it yet, but it looks like it would be a good hunting bullet.
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!
Hi Wheelgun, no, I bought this mold about two months ago in 4 cavity brass. Yes, it does look like the LBT WFN with a slightly smaller meplat but will still be very effective.
That is right in the velocity range for Unique...
From a 4" 57:
8.0: 950-1000 depending on the bullet
9.0: 1100 +-
10.0: 1180+-
RJM52, the older I get (66 yrs.) the less I feel like getting beat up by heavy loads for no reason and can do 100% of what I need to do with this load and keep the wear and tear down on my pinned and recessed Smith. It has already been back to the factory to have the hammer and trigger pins repaired many years ago and the old girl deserves easier loads.
I'm about the same...68 here... 90% of the loads I have fed my S&W .41s for the last 40 years have been 8.0 grains of Unique. Heavy loads have only been for hunting. Don't think I've put 5 boxes of factory loads through all my .41s in all those years.
Man...talk about shortage... Was just over on GunBroker and looked at Ruger .41 Magnums...there was a total of...10. Not one a Double Action.
This is now beyond sad...it is to the point of scary.
