That is beautiful... I am lucky enough to own a Horton 657 and 629, this gun really reminds me of them. The 657 has been nicknamed "little thumper". So much fun to shoot.

Your 657...is it one of the 3" 1986 vintage Combat Specials (6K made) or the later very rare full underlug barrel LH (less than 150 made).... A lot of people think that the 1986 guns were commissioned by LH but only the 24 and 624 CSs were...the others were all non-catalogued stocking dealer specials...
I've had four over the years...the one I have left was well used before I bought it and has a Mag-Na-Ported barrel....
Mine is a full underlug with unflutted cylinder. I would have to look, but I think I have a Horton letter on that gun, I know the 44 does it is also 3" full underlug and unfluted. I went out of my way for a good while to pick up the 3 inch unfluted Smiths that could be officially traced to Horton. I was able to manage 44, 44 special (I think), 41, 10mm and 357 in that frame and barrel style. I love the look of the cylinders and the feel of the 3" barrels. But... I would almost trade any one of them for a good condition 6" 32 H&R mag with target sights, except the 41.
...funny...I just picked up a 16-2 4"...what a sweet shooter... I also have a Model 53 that was converted to .327...
That is a GREAT collection... I have almost bought both the LH 657 and the 657 Defensive Revolver and then was going to sell my 3" but this one is so nice and "used" I don't have to worry about carrying it...
Oh man a 16-2, wonderful hardware! I have many rare Smiths, for the most part though they get shot. If I have it, I want to enjoy it... not just look at it. Don't suppose you would have any interest in trading it off?
Was not the 53 a 22 Jet? Lot of effort there.

The Jet is a 1961 6" that I've had since 1974 and came with a .22 LR cylinder... Burned the original barrel out and was lucky enough to find a replacement about 5 years ago and never shot Jet in it again... When the .327 came out decided to sacrifice the .22 LR cylinder. Sent the works to Jack Huntington and he rechambered the LR cylinder and had the barrel rebored...so I can put it back to Jet if needed... But the .327 is just such a better round that is doubtful...
I just got a new Ruger .41 Blackhawk today. I took those silly plastic grips off and put my SP elks on and did the poor boy trigger job. Drug out some 3 year old reloads and fired offhand at 10 yards. I'm digging it. The flyers are on me. 6.5 grs Unique under the Lee 210TLSWC.

Good shooting TBG. I ordered a ss bisley .41 mag with a 5 1/2” barrel on monday. I am chomping at the bit waiting for it. I thought it would be here today. Maybe tomorrow.

I have a charter arms 41 mag pug that i carry and just love it. At only 23 oz you hardly know you are carrying it.

I will admit its a bit of a bear to go to the range with my old hands really can't take much more than a few boxes at a time. Also had to lose the factory grips and make a set to fit my hands. The new grip helps a lot.

My first .41 was a 3 screw 4-5/8” Blackhawk that shot 210 jhps 4” high-@100 yards. With 220gr Lees and 9 grs of Unique it was a foot high at close range. “6 o’clock hold” is still ingrained in my memory! Funny how that 9 grs load seems too much to me nowadays but back then that’s what I used everyday. I want to try some low velocity loads for play- like 600-700 FPS. Red Dot or Bullseye and how many grains for the 210gr Lee? My 220 gr Lee SWC mould is lost to the sands of time sadly. Thanks in advance.
What are you running for loads?
I have a listing if 5.5 gr Unique using a Lyman 419459 cast at 223 gr that chronoed 740 fps in a 4-5/8" BH or 940 fps in a Henry Rifle. Also 6.5 gr Red Dot with a Mehi 413640 207 gr penta hp but not chronoed yet. But it sure is light and fun to shoot.

Full house i run 9.8 gr unique target 5 gr unique with 200 gr swc. Want to try h110 but low and to lazy to go across town to gun store.
H110/Win296 will bring the pain in your Charter. I’ll imagine that the 9.8 grs Unique load is nasty enough
