Here is the load for my 16.5" Henry .41 mag... a 212 gr cast cup point gas check-- powder coated - VVN 110 20.8gr with a CCI mag primer... mv is 1778fps 10 feet from the mz
very accurate out to 50 yards. Will try 100 yds later this year
this is in my gun, worked up to …
I think with out having tried that H110 would be faster... this worked well on a doe this year at 70-80 yds

I cast this bullet, then powder coated. It came to 219 grains. I used 17 grains of 4227. I was a bit surprised as I got some pretty flat primers, and very easy ejection. I'll post pictures of the primers later.

I seated at 1.594. 17 grains of 4227. Sized at .4105. I was surprised by the primers, ejection was very easy. Most falling bout without even hitting ejector rod. Thoughts?

Seems as if you have lower pressure load. How far you go from here is up to you

This is my confusion. By all thing I know I should have room to go up, but with flattened primers like that I am not sure.

In your pix of your primers, some did look a bit flat, most did not.
Try a different primer, see how it does with that charge.
Is there a pressure ring at about the head of the hull---at the bottom? Often there is the ring that may be seen better upon sizing... Are they stiff to size? Run through the list of pressure indicators and see what you get.

    Hey all,

I have gathered a bunch of load data. But am not finding what I am looking for. I am hoping to find cast bullet data for a 210grn with 4227, h110, or lil gun. Direction anyone?

I went back and looked at Hogdon,s powder data-- for a 219/220 gr bullet the start load is 18 gr so you about a grain under.. maybe being low is messing with your primers

Use some CCI LPP and have another go. Looks like you’re using Winchester which are known to be soft cup and show signs way early.

It also looks like you’re getting a very healthy firing pin strike, perhaps too deep but the pictures can be deceiving sometimes.

You also have to be careful comparing grain for grain as well. Yours has no lube grooves and more bearing surface. You’ve been wise to start low and work up.

Each gun is a world of its own... Reloading manuals are only a guide. Best tool one can own is a chronograph. By watching the velocities and cartridge case signs one can develop the optimum loads for their gun and components...

From what I understand if you crimp in the crimping groove the round will not seat into the cylinder throats...

For target velocity loads I would start with 5 grains of 231 or Unique...

I have been chasing that mould for a good while! Can you tell me if you can crimp to the groove in you Smith? Mine are all 657's and I just can't imagine that it is to long. How about measuring the OAL with one to the groove?
