..and LimpingJ...those grips are gorgeous...what kind of wood are they?

Had out the .41 I have owned the longest...a 1980 vintage Model 57 4" blue that I bought from a friend in 1983..

Double 95 grain Round Ball with 7.0 grains of Unique (4 rounds, 8 balls)
Didn,t think about posting this until now. I recently purchased another, yes another, Blackhawk in .41 Mag. of course. About a week later I managed to nail a large rat with an, 0r a, glue bullet cast from a round nose mold. Hit her in the head at about six feet. She kicked a little bit then expired. Got to love it when a plan comes together.
...ok...can you tell us how you make these Magic Rat Bullets....please...
Just got done loading some shot loads:
RP case
Federal LP primer
5.0 grains of Unique
Lyman Gas Check cup up
150+- grains of #8 shot
95 grain .411" round ball pushed 1/2 into the case and crimped in place...
Lyman .410 gas check and a RB mold that is marked .410 but throws .411....don't remember who made the mold.
I tamp the gas check down over the powder with a steel rod that fits the gas check well but just loose enough so it won't get stuck. The GC is tapped in place lightly with a small brass hammer. Wear safety glasses.
Then the case is filled with shot to the top and the ball rested on top. Ball compresses the shot as it is seated and then crimped in place with a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die.

Just ordered some of these....

I loaded these a couple years ago, I believe I coated the cavitys with a light coat of oil. Filled with a glue gun then cut the sprue with a pocket knife. The flash hole must be drilled a little larger or the primer will back out and tie the cylinder up. Push the glue bullet in the case before you prime , might want to wear safety glasses. I just used primer power, some add a little powder for a stouter load. There is a good thread on here somewhere.
...excellent...thank you.
The zinc bullets from Midsouth came in yesterday... They measure .4085-.409. Loaded some up with 10.0 grains of Unique and will run them through a 2.5" Redhawk to see how they shoot...
Ended up shooting the zinc bullets with a 4.25" Redhawk and a 657 3"...very pleased with the results. Hope to do some more shooting with them tomorrow...
Also just picked up a 5.5" Freedom Arms 97 in .41 Magnum with black Micarta grips.....another that should get it's first shots tomorrow. It was a "used" gun...I am the third owner but owner #1 and #2 put only a few rounds through it...looks like new and the original unfilled out registration card is in the box....

Just got done shooting some of the 180 grain zinc bullets with 8.0 grains of Unique from a 2.75" Ruger Redhawk and a 3" S&W 657...zero issues and very accurate...perfect practice load as I usually shoot lighter bullets in both these guns... For 7 cents each they are hard to beat...
Shot the new FA97 5.5" at 50 and 100 yards using the Accurate Mold 41-250F and 9.0 grains of Unique. Sitting with my arms rested over my knees put 5/5 in about a 6" group at 50 and the 4/5 in a 8" group at 100 with one shot going a little high. Considering how fuzzy the target it due to my cataract I'm happy to hit the target at all...

The nicest .41 I ever got the chance to fire was my grandfather's OM Blackhawk 7 1/2". Very early as the serial number was 2XX. Great gun, and super accurate. Unfortunately he had to sell it, and I did not have the funds at the time. Wish that one was still around though.

Noticed Davidsons has some Super Redhawks in .41 Mag. on hand.
CD...looked at them at the SHOT Show and they were pretty sturdy. A friend bought one of the versions in .45 ACP that shoots nice....
One of the posters over on The High Road bought one but I'm not sure he has shot it yet...
