I shoot a lot of 15.5 gr. of 2400 in my 41 mags with the NOE 412459 velocity is around 1150-1250 (depending on barrel length). Just starting in on 41 special with RCBS 41-210 swc 6.0 gr. Unique has shot good have not chrono'd any yet. Has anyone loaded Bullseye in 41 special because that is what I'd like to use?

I shoot cast at silhouettes but all deer shots have been with jacketed. Among those used were a Speer Gold Dot, Speer 200gr half-jacket, an XTP, Sierra 170gr and Remington 200gr SJHP. Some from handguns, some from 1894s. At a gun show this past weekend I ran into 4 boxes of factory 170gr remington SJHP. The question is, have any of you used these for hunting of any kind? My plan has been to start using cast for hunting deer, but if these shoot well in a Blackhawk I may carry them instead.

I've loaded 4.0gr Bullseye underneath a 237gr Kieth and had great luck with it. I haven't chronographed that one, but it is very accurate. RCBS 210gr bullet will likely shoot that charge good too, (it isn't a stiff load by any stretch of the imagination) Light plinker.

16.0gr VvN110 is my hammer-load in the Special; same 237gr Kieth (I mentioned above) ticks 1250fps with that charge. Goes beyond what most guys are loading the "Special" for, but for those that wish to maximize it, this one is fantastic. The VvN110 is a very similar powder to 2400 only gives a tad better velocity for "like" charges (plus) has a little bit lower pressure.. extremely stable powder as well* I really like it.

I have been loading AA#2 at the 7 gr level. This has worked fine and shoots as well as I can...233gr K in trimmed hulls in a 4" Tracker .41
I have used 13 gr of AA#9 it groups very well. I have chrono'd it but do not have it near me -- can put it up later

I have some of the Remington 170 left
    they are very soft
Gary Reeder likes the 170 for deer in the sierra bullet but he says the 170 are too soft -- his thoughts
the Remington 170gr ammo was a major for me --hot hot hot ball of fire -- but fun

I don't cast, (YET), so who makes a good wad cutter for the 41 that's reasonable priced?

Thanks. Got the order and its on the way.

Thanks RJM. We've been a little addicted to the .41 for a while. Working on a full workup of load data for the .41 Special now (in the midst of all the other projects) so we'll have a complete list of load data for it. I was lucky enough that a member here was so very gracious to help out on the HB WC. I did not have the mold and he is a big help. Once the list is done I'll post it here as well as on our website so everyone has access to it. Mainly covering all the fast pistol powders for target loads; we'll have some data in there for the SD type loads as well, but the main focus is on target data.

Do you know if the 200gr Rem is any different in construction?

5.0 grains of any fast burning powder like Unique, 231, Red Dot, Greed Dot, 700X is going to be VERY low velocity...like in the 600s...

I use 6.5 gr. of Trail Boss with a 215 gr. cast SWC and 19.8 gr. of 296 with a Hornady 210 gr. XTP. Both are very accurate and fun to shoot in my 57. The muzzle flash with 296 is impressive even in an 8 3/8" barrel.
