    #2 grandsons first rifle

Was out and about today taking care of some buisness and stopped into the Local Gun Store to see what was there. Last Novemner my second grandson was born and Ive been looking. The First grandson I found a very clean Stevens Favorite single shot falling block in 22 rimfire for his first rifle. Today looking over the rack seeing if there was anything there I need were 2 remington "Baby" rolling blocks one in .22 rimfire and one in 32 rimfire I believe. Not anything real fancy as to wood but good clean rifles with alot of finish left and the patina as it should be. A look into the bore of the 22 showed clean crisp rifling a good chamber with no rings or issues. It came home with me for the second grandsons first rifle. Am going to work some oil into the metal and stock wax into the wood shortly to clean up and see what it looks like. A fine old single shot for his first rifle.

    .

    If it's a #4 roller, they're great little rifles - Congrats !

I had a solid-frame #4 roller in .32RF, for which I converted the RF firing pin to a CF firing pin & drilled the breechblock centrally, so I could shoot off-the-shelf .32 Short Colt ammo.

It's barrel wasn't as nice as yours sounds, but it shot just fine - since I had also mounted an orphaned/un-marked, old/simple, tang peep sight to it.

Over 20 years ago, I bought my older Grandson a Chipmunk single-shot bolt gun; but I bought something different for my other/newest grandson - a T/C Hot Shot (looks like a Contender Carbine).

My first rifle was a #4 Remington that my father picked up at second hand store for $8. It now belongs to my daughter and sense the oldest grandson is about 14 it will most likely go to him.

No matter how many times you post I can not get over the size of your hares.

Big enough for a multiperson meal.

That is one nice Roller too by the way.
