A Lyman #358101 Question

Hello to All,
I collect casting and reloading manuals, and yesterday I picked up the Lyman 45th Edition (1970) Reloading Handbook at a half-price bookstore. The book has been well cared for over the past 35 years, and with a $9.00 price tag I was not leaving the store without it.
While glancing through the .38 Special loading section, I noticed a bullet weight and mold number that was unfamiliar. The weight is listed as 75grs and the bullet mold number as 358101. I have Lyman manuals older and newer than the 45th edition, but cannot find a picture of, or duplicate listing of this bullet. There is a sidebar note that states, “Due to its light recoil, bullet No. 358101 is very popular for indoor (50 foot) target shooting.� Any additional information and/or a picture of the bullet would be appreciated. Lonestar22: Thanks and will update myself or perhaps the shooter himself will let us both know( he is a long ways from me) I had given him some suggestions on loading those two at time,but doubt that he's done anything yet..Onceabull

That bullet was introduced in 1960 (using the "vacated" cherry number from the old .44-40 Ideal round ball mould #424101) and carried through 1978, though as a "special order item for the last few years of its career. It is shown in the 1973 Second Edition Lyman "Cast Bullet Handbook" posted - as onceabull says - on the CASTPICS site.

Yes onceabull did contact me re, your info on the Lyman mould #358101. What great information. I have not received the mould yet, but expect it in the next day or two. My interest in this mould is mainly because my wife, onceabull's sister, has told me she wants to get back into shooting, in fact onceabull brought the mould to my attention and I did not let it get away. I own a Colt Poliice positive 38 Special that is now hers and hope this little light weight will be much fun for her.
I will follow up with you as we expierment with these loads. Of course if 2.0 grs of Bullseye shoots well, I will only expierment for my benefit with other loads.

Hey floodgate!
I have not forgotten your generous offer to meet up with you. Several serious health problems intered into my wife's and my life. Great news, we are both fine, her problem started with the big "C" word, but she has been declared free of those problems a few weeks ago. I promised her when she got well we would go someplace nice for relaxation and celebraation. So we are going to Hawaii first part of November. Hopefully we can at least meet in person some time after that. I will contact you when it looks possible.
