CORRECTION of notice regarding ADI Pistol and Shotgun powders

Dear Reloader,
On 16 March, Australian Munitions released a notice regarding future developments in ADI Pistol and Shotgun powders. The notice incorrectly stated that the new range of APS powders will be phased in from May this year (2015).
The new range of APS powders will be phased in from May 2016. Until then, Australian Munitions will produce enough AS30N, AS50N, AP50N and AP70N to ensure that the forecast needs of our Australian reloading customers can be met. In addition to this, we will produce adequate stocks of these powders to allow for a period of around one year where both ranges (APS and AS/AP powders) will be available.
Australian Munitions apologises for this error, it was simply a matter of human error in getting the date wrong.
We are aware that our customers in some areas are still experiencing some difficulties getting hold of our powders. This is partly due to absolutely unprecedented demand, coupled with some localised issues with distribution logistics. Transporting significant quantities of powder – classified as a Hazard Division 1.3C material – to all corners of Australia in full compliance with the various applicable state and federal regulations remains an extremely challenging task. We are working very hard to improve the situation, as we would like every reloader in Australia to have ready access to our products.

Significantly more than what you blokes can purchase them from Hodgdon.
Under the old distributor they were priced just under the imported powder, prices have risen under the current distributor.
Almost nothing available for under $50/500g

That's the thing. With the current exchange rate of the AUD vs the USD, they get more for it by exporting to the USA.

Also... ADI is (was) owned by Thales, A french company.

I used to pay $45 per Lb for both winchester and ADI powder.
Now, Winchester is not available and ADI (if you can get it) is now $75 per Lb.

So, you in the US can buy it cheaper than I can, even though it is made here.

I think it is gun control via supply limitation.

Trev the Mulwala and Benalla plants are Australian government owned, the running of the plant at Mulwala is a lease agreement that Thales currently have.
How long Thales continue to run it is up in the air, bit of info here

I can vouch for this as someone living in Oregon with a relative who recently went on a business trip to the UAE.

For some reason I have never fathomed but am prepared to believe, it is apparently impossible to run a successful economy on a constant supply of everything people want and are prepared to pay for. It takes growth to do that. Maybe it is a bit like management and trade unions needing inflation to be able to manipulate the workers.

There seems to be a fine, wholesome rate of growth in the outrage industry.

Wow... I just ordered 40 lbs of a few different powders and thought the $165 for 8 lbs of IMR4198 and IMR4227 seemed a bit high.
