    Bump.

I'm working on 20 gauge TSS loads. Here is 40 yds with 1 oz #6 TSS shot, mod choke. Two slits in the cup.

The grouse is 1 1/2 ft tall. 114 of the total 140 pellets are on the paper.

    Trying different slits now.

Found a place to order some https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/tun...uper-shot.html
Also on shotgun forum there is a guy named Hoglips that buys and sells it or at least he used to sell it.
It still is available from the site.

Here in Finland we have a couple of vendors for tungsten shot. But directly from China is an option, too.

    Better with deeper slits now.

Tungsten is indeed heavier than lead. Up to 18 times denser.

I was looking into buying 60 calmtungsten round balls to work up a load similar to my Tri Ball load for hog hunting on a refuge that’s non-tox only.

One of my 60 cal lead balls weights around 330 grs. The same size tungsten weights a little over an ounce.

18 g/cm3 tungsten (TSS) is 1,65 times heavier than lead.

You can choose a pellet full five sizes smaller than your lead shot... and you gain a little more effective distance by doing that. The same penetration further out there. In addition, because tungsten does not deform in the choke like lead you get less stray shot.

I have found that bigger lead payloads in 20 gauge (3") mostly only give more recoil and a slower second shot. Tungsten is completely changing my hunting loads.

TSS patterns much tighter than lead, that may be a problem with older doubles m/f chokes.

I do recognize its superior ability to retain energy over lead since it is the higher density metal and I want to load some of it for my 12 gage turkey loads, but I have absolutely NO IDEA where to get such a thing. If any of you boys know of a supplier who sells it, I'd sure appreciate knowing about it. Midway sells the tungsten wads made for tungsten shot, but they don't list any tungsten shot. All I've ever used is standard old Lawrence chilled lead shot so alla this tungsten business is new to me.

The commercial loaded shot using tungsten is called "Heavi-shot" and one brand name of those shells is Heavi-13 and you can find them in most sporting goods stores in the ammo section and at Cabela's and Midway. But I want to load my own dang it.
Most of the folks here are into casting and handloading lead slug, ball and buckshot.

Loading TSS shot is a specialty in and of itself. That said, if you are interested in using TSS factory ammo or in loading TSS yourself, I can think of no better site refer you to than Gobbler Nation.
