I have H1498, varget, 748, 760, big game, and tac on hand. which one of these would give me a good factory mirror loading for the 170gr flatpoint j-bullet?

Varget will most closely approximate the factory load, if that is what you want. IMR3031 or RL7 would also work. 4198 is a bit too fast, 748 "may" work, but you may not be able to find data for it, and I would be less inclined to experiment with any spheroidal powders beyond the realm of published data....

Keep it to yourself.
I used RL 7 in mine, good accuracy a great velocity.

Water's Pet Loads has a factory equivalent load with 35 gr of IMR-4320 at 2280 fps in a 24" barrel. 4198 and 748 max out to low, and Varget gets close at Hodgdon's listed max.
I'm using LVR for CB loads approaching and working up to factory velocities. Been reading about CFE223 in this cartridge, will pick up a pound next time I get a chance.

Some of my favorite recipes start out with a handful of depleted counterbalance devices.
Varget it is then. I looked through a couple of my manuals and saw loads for 4064, and I know that Varget is very close to 4064, so there is where I go then.
There is a load using 4198 (sorry, I just realized that I misplaced the 4 and 1 in the OP) in my Hornady manual, but not every powder works well to get where I want.
Thanks again.

You'd be hard pressed to beat 748 in the 32WS?, it's a FINE powder for that round!, data is easily found for it too?, don't know where you're not looking?
The CFE223 powder looks good, does everything that 748 has done since it's inception, wouldn't surprise me if it is one and the same?, Hodgdon has a habit of doing things like that.

I was looking through a couple of manuals for loads with the powers I have on hand, but beings I have no experience with this cartridge I was asking which of the powers would be the best to use. That's why I asked which of the powders worked, its not that I wasn't looking, I just have no experience with the cartridge and wanted to do it right the first time.
