    Using multiple presses

I am wondering how many guys run multiple presses. I have one walnut hill and have been exploring buying a second one to speed up production but not sure if it makes that big of a difference. Looking for opinions of what you all think of two presses (or more than 2)

I think three is the right number. Set one each for core size, core seat, point form. When I finally get three up and swaging, then a couple more will be needed.

I'm with clodhopper and think three is the right amount. I currently only have one, but am looking to buy two more as my budget permits.

I have seven (7) presses: two Corbin "Silver Presses", one Corbin CHP-1 "Hydro Press", two Blackman "BSSP" presses and two RCBS "Rock Chuckers" converted to use type 'M" dies.

What did you use on the rock chuckers to convert?

Three, one for BT' dies (modified LEE), one for Lafans and simular (modified Rock Chucker) and a Rock Chucker for resizing brass for J-words/reloading single stage specialties that need a shell holder. One more in the future, first I need to finish the machine shop for dies and punches.

I am thinking about getting a Sea Girt, I am very impressed with the Walnut Hill and heard that it has more power than the seeker, so not sure if I want to downsize to that or not.
A member here is willing to sell me his walnut hill for $425 delivered, not a bad price

I use three. Five, if you include a pneumatic press for derimming 22LR cases and a Rockchucker for GP work. I use a Cobrin Series II and two WH presses.

I had 5 at one time...but now I seem to get by fine with 3. One single stage and 2 progressives. I did away with my turret as the 550B is about the best turret press going.

I think 3 swaging presses is minimum for convenience when setting up for a new bullet. Core swage, core seat, and point form on each of the presses. Add another press if doing RBTs. I only have two Walnut Hills but with 6S 30 cals I can use the HydraSwage with an "H" point form die as my third press. When adjusting core weights and jacket lengths it's nice to be able to lock the die down when adjustments are correct.

I think shoot-n-lead is talking about reloading and not swaging.

I need to stop reading this thread of have the mods delete this one forever as it is going to cost me dearly. Actually, I find this a good discussion on the benefits of having multiple presses. I keep my eyes open for an opportunity to purchase another press for my swaging. I will continue to be happy with my single press set up and be glad to have my foot in the swaging game.

Most of us have discovered that bullet swaging is a money pit, kind of like my brothers sailboat which is a hole in the water you throw money into or the vertical mill & lathe where tooling is many times the cost of the machines. All money gets spent. Only you can decide what to spend it on that makes you happy. It's like the guy who said he spent most of his money on wine and women and the rest he wasted.

I'm cruising along with 3 presses for swaging (big bosses), one for de-rimming (CSP1), one for pointing (RCII) and one for push through case sizing which i also use to size cast boolits (lee classic cast mounted upside down). And then of course the garden variety of loading presses. Mostly the blue painted ones.
