    3 Step Chrony Project

My carry piece is a 45acp and I wanted my chrony to tell me 3 things.
    1. FPS of my 230gr TAP carry ammo.
    2. FPS of 230gr FMJ practice ammo (for same feel and POI as TAP)
    3. FPS of cast that has same POI as TAP for LOTS of pratice (just curious what
FPS will be when POI is found)
    I chronyed 5 230gr TAPs = 850FPS avg nailing bleach jug @ 25yds/ fixed sights!
    6.0grs unique/ 230gr fmj = 800FPS avg no jug joy!
    6.5grs unique/ 230gr fmj = 850FPS avg nailed jug 5/5
    7.0grs unique/ 230gr fmj = 909FPS avg no jug joy!
I think I've got my full power practice load. Now to get some lead loaded and
    find my cheep practice load.
I love the fact that for me those 230gr HP Taps hit poa at 25yds!

Just remember that almost 97% of gunfights are within the magic 21 foot range! You might find a big difference in poi at 21 feet.

Split your practice up into several different ranges, hopefully during the same clip load of ammo.

I'll also suggest you spend as much time practicing finding cover as you do shooting. It's been my experience that bleach jugs don't always travel alone!

I can see right now you must have shot it out with a SWVA bleach jug GANG! They never travel
alone, always 4 or more and some diet coke cans taggen along too! I do pratice at different
ranges, 25 is where I start to think more on a sighted shot than point and click. Was just
happy the sights fell to POA at 25. I'ts getting harder and harder to get people to let me practice shooting at them. Gotta have some kind of pratice target! The neet thing for me was how guickly the chrony helped me find a load.

4.7 grains of bullseye under a 200-grain LSWC gives me about 850fps out of a full size 1911.
