lube i have been experimenting with

I was making a batch of 45/45/10, i cook it to reduce it a bit to make it smatchy. Then store it in an old shoe polish can. Now that i am that i am out of the military i have alot of black shoe polish!!!!,,, alot. Anyways wanting to make a double batch of 45/45/10 i emptied a full can of shoe polish for the can.
I mixed up my 45/45/10 and on a whim i put another "10" of black "kiwi" brand black shoe polish in the mix and cooked it. Well it works quite well. I have not pushed it to hard but have had no leading so far. It dries quite quick and shrinks very little.
    I call it 45/45/10/.1

Please excuse the pun, but your bore should " shine " when you're finished shooting.

Ain't that stuff mostly carnauba and volatiles with a lot of carbon mixed in? Of to MDS (fka MSDS) land when I get more ambition...

I will look too. Hope i dont have to turf it. The polish is waxy, i know there is alcohol in it that will cook off quick with heat, heard of guys drinking it, yuck. I apply it to my boolits with a small stick. Does not feel grainy but "fluffier". The bores of the rifles looked no cleaner, i would get the odd shiny smeck of lead on my patch from my No4 but not since i have been using the new 45/45/10/.1. I have been shooting it lots!! I am hoping to recover some shot boolits once the snow melts. TREASURES!!
    Thanks

No better and no worse. All my 54m shooting these last few months have been under bad winter conditions or worse, i know i will shoot much better once this snow clears,, since my bum and elbows will be dry. I have been looking at the MSDS, i am good. Will continue to use it, and push it harder once i get to a 100m range and dryed and thawed out. I am pleased so far.
Funny to me, at least i can use this polish up. Knowing now i will never spit polish again. The girlfriend asked me about some polish for here hot black winter boots,, well i geared her up good. Some touch up, polish, applicator brush, buffer brush, homemade panty hose buffer chummy, rags and a promise to help.

shoe polish is super similar to jpw in base make-up, it just has dye in it to match the shoes and cover up flaws.

Got out to shoot 100m today. Had two 303s and a Garand all my loads were around 2000 fps and no signs of leading at all. I am very pleased so far with this formula. My shooting was bad, but the 45/45/10/.1 worked beyond my expectations.
    be safe.
