    got some hodgdon universal powder?

wife and daughter went shopping way up in rapid city and she stopped by the gun store for me. she told them i wanted powder for my .38 special and want to keep the loads medium, not hot. said i would be shooting a 130 to 150 grain jacketed bullet. is the hodgdon universal powder good for this? how many grains for about 800 ft. per sec? powders are hard to find around here hope this is a good one.

Did you check Hodgdon's online reloading data?

Universal is very close to Unique. It should serve you well in the .38 special.

Yep, Universal is just a smidgen faster than Unique. And I have noticed when you use a medium-heavy load with Universal that it is much cleaner burning than Unique. I use both powders but prefer the Universal most of the time.

Universal should be excellent in .38 spl. I use it for .38 spl type loads in .357 brass. Hodgdon's website has data or just google.

I use Universal as a direct substitute for Unique in the 32-20 and it works great.

By the way - tried PM'ing you about the Muzzleloader project, but you have to start deleting some messages in your inbox before the system will allow anyone to send more. I'm ready to order a breech plug and need guidance.
