Question Anything new from the desk of Mike Venturino?

I sure do like it when he pops in for a visit.

That is an interesting picture Wilco.
There is a cartridge is in the air and the bolt of the rifle is back, so far so good.
But, the lever appears to be all the way up with the bolt still back!
    Interesting!!!

It is a slide action made by Burgess. The grip is the slide. Similar to a pump but works from the other end of the action frame. Mike did an article on it.

DING! We have a winner. His hand conceals the bulbous sliding metal pistol grip shoe.

With the way some members have treated him it is a wonder it's only been that long. He does seem to have a thick skin and I have no doubt he will be back when he has something to say or contribute.

I've never been a fan of his, but I simply ignored him when we disagreed.

Hey Guys, thanks for thinking of me. I haven't been here for a bit but have lurked a few times. I'm not mad at anybody. I've just been swamped with work and having some health problems. My heart was damaged by a cardiac infarction in '02 and now doesn't pump up to par. The result is I tire easily. Also I am having a lot of lower back trouble. I can still shoot and do most of what I want but rest more than I used to. Still do a lot of casting too. I'll try to be more active.

Good to hear from you. Are you going to be at the Kalispell gun show this spring?
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

Yes, to Kalispell at this time. I'm bringing some of my WW2 Small Arms books and tabling with my friend Shrapnel.
