Need a scope for my Winchester pump.

Back in 1957, when I was 11 years old my Dad bought me my first 22. Before that I was using my brothers single shot. Wow, a Winchester pump! I have carried it around for the last 58 years. It looks almost new today. It had a 3/4" tubed weaver scope on it for all those years but it (the scope) finally gave up. I bought a set of 1" rings that fit the grooved receiver. Looks like the largest scope forward bell diameter I can use is 1-3/8" without removing the rear iron sight, which I do not want to do. Any suggestions on a good scope that won't break the bank?

Call Weaver they might warranty it.

You could have that one rebuilt to keep it as it were.

Called Weaver a while back. They said it was from the "old" Weaver company and they did not want to have anything to do with it. Not even willing to do a repair for charge.

Buy one of the older k Weavers, el paso made. Somewhere in the 50 dollar range.

And probably even rings for .22's can be had in different heights to clear the scope bell.

You may be able to find someone to rebuild it. Probably wouldn't be worth it unless it is important to you. I have an older Redfield that was my father's I need to track down someone to fix the reticle.

I tend to think that it is hard to get a one inch scope with an enlarged objective that doesn't look way too big for most small framed .22's.

If it was up to me, I would be looking for a blued steel Weaver in the K2.5, K3 or K4 range to put on it.

The Weaver RV7 (2-7x28mm) is an outstanding rimfire scope for not a lot of cash. All you will need and more for a field .22 scope.
