It has been raining all weekend and the range is closed due to boggy conditions. Back on the firing line on Wednesday.

H4895 is my alternative choice with 155 - 180 gr cast if you can't get the LvR, H414 or Win 760.

H4895 that is ADI's AR2209, made here and repackaged for Hodgson IIIRC. I will double check that. Thanks

Thanks for that I would have checked first. 2209 did sound a tad slow.

Nope, I ended up getting 'gifted' with a couple of thousand Norinco FMJs and a couple of hundred soft points. Just plinking with them so far. Funny thing is the steel cased FMJ Norincos are more accurate that the PPU soft point commercial ammo.

Yeah, Ive found the Norinco fmj steel cased ammo with the tip cut off pretty effective and accurate. Ive got a case of them and found them pretty good in my SKS and JW103. Something odd with the 103, not accurate with reloads of any type .

I noticed that my cz527 seems to like the Russian steel jacketed ammo just fine. Given its a .310" bore and most of the us softpoints are .308, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

My best load so far in the CZ 762X39 is the Lee CTL312-160-2R powder coated and sized .311 over 15gr. IMR4227. Very nice little carbines. The barrel was as smooth from the factory as any I own. I'm very happy with it. Gp

I have owned a 527 7.62 for a while and found the MFS jacketed softpoint to outshoot steel cased ammo. I am struggling to find a good cast load. Tried the Lee CTL-160 sized .314 with gator checks - -mediocre at best. Now set to try the same bullet/check sized .311. Also just got a Lee C309-150-FP (which has been reported to a good shooter in this rifle) but have yet to cast any. Will be working with 4227, 2400,Lil-Gun and 5774 powders. I will report if I strike gold with any good combo in this matrix.

A while back a now banned member posted pictures of targets showing one mostly round hole of 5 rounds touching at 100 yards. His response to my PM follows. I have not tried his load and have no idea if it is safe as I have done no research and my 527 7.62 Carbine remains unused. All of the CZ rifles I have tried have been excellent.

    Re: C309-150 F in CZ 527 Carbne

With the Lapua brass I didn't have any problems. My normal load is 24gr H322 under that Lee C309-150F sized in the .313" die. I tried .312" and it didn't do as well. I don't crimp, and the boolit is set out to lightly engage the front band. 23-25gr all shot good groups, but I chose 24gr to give me some leeway with temperature change. WLR primers seemed to give me better accuracy than F210s.

My mix would be close to 50/50 wheelweights and soft lead with a few % tin added and water dropped. this makes for a malleable metal that will mushroom, but is not brittle. I'm using homebrew lube ahead of the GC ONLY. Your mileage may vary......my CZ527 has seen no jacketed rounds other than what it was factory test fired with.

The CZ will chamber and shoot longer and heavier boolits. My load is pretty snappy, so I chose to not use heavier boolits. I want to experiment with the NOE 311008 in GC form (125gr).

This is a really neat little rifle. Its size and the size of its cartridge really disguises its capability.
