Results Of Asking Questions and Reading On This Forum.

I recently bought a SW 15-4 after reading the 75,000 WC Thread and immediately began asking questions and reading threads. Alloy, brass, lube, powder etc. All were asked or read up on and I got much advice.

Today I had a snow day off of work so started in on testing. I tried many loadings of Promo and two different types of lube, two different primers.

358145 dropping about 148gr with a 20:1 alloy crimped in the crimp groove
    WC Brass
    WSP
    2.4gr Promo
    Bens LL
10 Paces Offhand. I'm going to concentrate on this loading as it produced the best results. No leading, minimal soot, easy recoil. I have not touched the sights and they are where they were out of the box. I'm going to adjust them for a 0600 hold as that is what I like.
Thanks to everyone that has helped on this.

    jonp,

It looks as though this load/lube combo left your revolver quite clean on the outside. Did you wipe it down before taking the photo?

    Thanks,

    Tony

S&W 15-4: The Results Of Asking Questions And Reading On This Forum

Tony, no I didn't. This was the 6th loading test of the day I think and the final one. Promo was pretty clean throughout with the 2.3gr prior to this one the dirtiest. 2.4gr was the point it cleaned up. 2.3gr was all over the place. 2.5 and 2.6 were ok but stringed with flyers.

Congratulations on the good fortune. Only 74050 ± left to go before you have it broken in.

Very nice. I am jealous. Of both the gun and the group.
My revolvers shoot groups like that from a rest but I am not good enough yet to do it offhand. I am working on it.

    Nice revolver. I have a 14-2
I have been playing with wc boolits too. Been having good luck with Bullseye and Titegroup.

Very respectable shooting! It pays to experiment a bit that's for sure. I would love to be pulling the trigger a bit but the weather has been absolutely brutal.

    jonp,
They are real shooters!....mine dislikes nothing! ( except a recent GB mould ...which is now sold) My star boolit is an old ideal 358311 that Buckshot Hp'ed for me. They all like to follow each other into the same ragged hole !!! It's shear simplicty and accuracy has pushed it to the top of all My "Great" S&W revolvers ( I have a bunch!)
