New ram extension for WH press!

Been a while since I have posted a new thread but I came up with a new and very good ram extension for either of the RCE presses and use of my dies. With this set up the large extension is the base punch! This one happens to be the derim base punch for a 22 cal set. This is an even better system then my previous tooling for the RCE presses. Alignment is even more precise, it tightens up securely with any AR-15 Style Spanner Wrench and the strength is greatly improved. This set up will become my new standard offer for anyone wishing to use my dies in their RCE press. No additional cost! No adapters! Simply a ram extension! For those of you that are already using my adapter in their RCE press and wish to upgrade simply send me a PM for details.

    Good shooting and swage on!

    Brian

So if we already have your threaded base punches do they fit in this adapter?

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a Sea Girt, but having a hard time pulling the trigger. So will your auto eject for the RCBS press work for the Sea Girt? Or will we need a new bottom plate that clamps on the ram? Thanks Brian!

BT - I've got the same question as CoyoteHunter as well. Thinking about a Sea Girt. I'm set up for a RCBS.
    Thanks

Would seem pretty simple for a 'new' system.. notice the holes in the top plate? I would run rods through them with new top and base ejector plates. I believe the holes in the top place have been made of different sizes over the years so you would need to verify.

Yes it will work with either the RCBS or Lee Auto eject system. You will need threaded base punches though. Pic soon.

Brian, thanks for the idea. I've been making my own dies for the past year. I was thinking about building the swage press in the "sticky", then thought about buying a Sea Girt. I've been trying to figure out how to make them work with dies similar to yours, and this is the answer. Maybe a swage press is in my future, when I finish the dies. Hopefully soon.

    thanks again,
    CC

You can definitely use Brian's dies with RCE presses. That is the main reason I went with RCE, because I can use both his dies, and I do have his dies, but I can also use Brian's dies, which I also use. I think the 7/8 dies made by RCE and Brian make a lot more sense than the 5/8 dies used by others. There is a lot of pressure generated on these dies, and the extra quarter inch of high quality steel gives a lot more strength.

Easy enough to add an ejector plate onto the "sticky" swage press. If I can figure out the adding a picture thing, here is a drawing of the press I have in the works,

Yes, most of the swage presses use the top section to hold a punch and the die is mounted on the ram. Then the ejector punch is in the ram itself and has to be blocked by a wedge passed through the slot in the ram. I've already designed my dies to be mounted in the top section like normal reloading dies, I hadn't thought of threading a holder to hold the bottom punch. That is the problem that Brian solved, for me at least.

    Brian,
Any estimate on when the ram extension upgrades for existing customers will be available?

    Thanks,

For those of you already using my dies in the RCE press you will already have a threaded adapter that accepts my threaded base punches (looks like a big bolt), this adapter holds on the auto eject system and is secured in the ram with two 7/8-14 lock rings. For those of you that want to up grade to the new style ram extension I need you to send me this threaded adapter back so I can convert it to the new style shown above. You will need an AR-15 style spanner wrench, like the one pictured above, to secure the new ram top in place.

It would take me a couple days to complete the necessary machine work then ship it back to you.

Send me a PM for further details.
